Set your trading rules
These become hard rules in your CLAUDE.md. Claude follows them without exception.
Intraday
Same-day entries and exits. All positions closed by market close.
Swing
Hold 1–5 days. Rides multi-day momentum on strong catalysts.
Position
Hold weeks to months. Macro thesis-driven, wider stops.
Strict
Named event only — earnings, contract, analyst upgrade, breaking news.
Moderate
Catalyst preferred but strong technical breakout on volume also qualifies.
Technical
Pure price action. Breakouts, reclaims, volume surges — no news required.

Position Quality Review
How it works
At every scan your agent reviews each open position and asks two questions: (1) Is the original catalyst still fresh and not yet priced in? If not — exit immediately, before the stop fires. (2) Is the realistic upside larger than the distance to the stop? If not — exit. This is what keeps average losses small even with wide stops.
e.g. You bought NVDA on an earnings beat. Three days later the beat is fully priced in and the stock is flat. The stop is still 6% away — but PQR catches the dead thesis at the next scan and exits at −1.5% instead of waiting for the full loss.

Run thesis + R/R check at every scan — exit dead positions early before the stop fires

Exit if downside to stop exceeds realistic upside to profit target — bad risk/reward
No-progress rule
Exit if held for the set number of days without reaching the first profit target
Post-earnings stall rule
Exit if stock gapped 10%+ on its own earnings in the last 5 days and has since stalled
Exit triggers
⚡ Stop-loss orders execute automatically inside Robinhood — no scan required, any plan.

Trailing stop after Stage 1
After Stage 1 triggers, trail remaining shares by the stop-loss % instead of a fixed breakeven
Force-exit time 3:55 PM ET
Close all intraday positions by 3:55 PM ET regardless of P&L — no overnight holds on intraday mode
SPY circuit breaker
Exit all positions and halt new entries if SPY drops more than 2% in a single session — market going risk-off
VWAP break exit
Exit a position if price closes a 5-min candle below VWAP after entry — setup has lost institutional support
Volume dry-up exit
Exit if volume drops below 30% of opening hour volume mid-hold — momentum fading, setup losing steam
Failed breakout exit
Exit if price breaks out then fades back below the breakout level within the same session
Sector reversal exit
Exit if the stock's sector ETF reverses more than 1.5% against the trade direction mid-hold
RSI exhaustion exit
Exit long positions if RSI(14) hits 80+ without a fresh catalyst — overbought signal, take the gain
Negative news exit
Exit immediately on any negative headline for the held ticker — don't hold through bad news
Pre-earnings auto-exit
Auto-close any open position 1 day before its earnings report — avoids binary event risk on existing holds

Set scan schedule
Choose which scans run automatically each trading day. Each fires a Claude session that checks positions and screens for entries.
